I could not resist the temptation of mystifying him a bit, I suppose it is some taste of the original apple that remains still in our mouths.

About This Quote

In this quote from Bram Stoker’s Dracula , the Count has been bewitched by a beautiful woman who is in love with him. This woman, Mina, is a descendant of the original Count’s wife, and for some reason she believes that the Dracula in the story is the same man she has fallen in love with. In this case, Mina decides to toy with her beau. She applies a few drops of her own blood to the Count’s food and then subtly offers a bite of his food to him.

When he takes a bite of what she has prepared, she realizes that he has been bewitched by her blood. In turn, the Count realizes that it is she who has been bewitched by him and so they both begin kissing. This bit of foreshadowing sets up the rest of the book where Mina becomes Dracula’s lover and his faithful servant at Castle Dracula while Dracula remains under his spell.
